About
Hey, I’m Sonia. Thanks again for visiting my virtual abode.
My journey so far is like most journeys: It doesn’t make much sense until it all makes sense.
I’ve got three degrees, including a law degree and a Masters in Business Leadership, as well as certifications in areas like behavioural profiling and organizational coaching.
I thought I wanted to be a lawyer (spoiler alert: I didn’t), and my sales job through law school stole my heart. As a senior salesperson, I started learning how to train others, and aside from a brief stint in commercial law after graduation, I have been focused on organisational behaviour, writing and facilitation ever since. Put simply, I love working with people, and I love investigating how humans work.
I’ve since worked with hundreds - maybe 1000 (I kick myself for not counting) - professionals in industries ranging from automotive, to real estate, electrical, tech, professional services, commercial solar, and the non-profit space. Pre-pandemic I conducted mostly classroom training, and my corporate training business called Status One was running from 2016 to 2020. In 2021, I also began sessional lecturing at university, teaching several Masters subjects relating to organisational leadership, human behaviour and connection.
When we look at our lives, we all have some key themes: Things that don’t seem to ever leave us alone. For me, those are reading, writing, speaking, creativity and human behaviour. These days, if it fits with my key life themes, I figure it’s usually a good idea.
This site has been set up to house my personal blog writing pieces, new content, book and podcast updates, basically… everything. Writing is a source of creativity and calm for me, and I think it’s an especially important practice in times like this - when the world is chaotic and uncertain like we’ve never seen it before. In a way, this writing serves me by helping me make sense of things and unjumble my mind. I hope, while you’re here, that it serves you in some way too.
Wishing you love and connection,
Sonia
